Indians Edged Cavemen, Cavers Overwhelm Lady Indians
The Cavemen lost a close battle with the Indians in Roseburg Tuesday night 48 to 46 in a game that saw the lead change multiple times throughout the contest including several times in the 4th quarter. Grants Pass was outscored at the foul line 9 to 3.

There was six seconds left with Jordan Rossetta was fouled and went to the foul line and missed the first shot. After a timeout to determine strategy, Rossetta intentionally hit the front of the rim with the ball to battle for the rebound, which eventually went out of bounds on the sideline. The Cavemen put the ball back into play and missed a final shot. Rossetta was the leading scorer with 22 points, 18 in the second half. Tim Hart had 12 points with four 3-point field goals. The Cavemen will host the North Medford Black Tornado next Tuesday.

In other local action last night the Tornado beat the South Medford, on the Panthers court 62 to 60. Sheldon continues to lead the Southwest Conference with a 59 to 44 win over Willamette. Hidden Valley outscored Mazama 55 to 37, North Valley edged Coquille by three, 59 to 56. The Illinois Valley Cougars won big, by 40 points over Oakland 79 to 39.

GP Faces Roseburg, both Home & Away, Other High School Match-Ups
The Grants Pass Cavemen Basketball team faces their third road trip in a row when they travel to face the Roseburg Indians Tuesday night. Grants Pass is 1 and 2 in conference while Roseburg is 0 and 2 with losses to Willamette and North Medford. The Cavemen losses came at the hands of Sheldon and South Medford. The boys are scheduled to tip off at 6:45 and the game will be carried live on KAJO with the pregame 20 minutes prior to tipoff.

The Lady Cavers, ranked 5th in the state and coming off a road victory over Sheldon are 11 and 3 overall and 2 and 1 in conference are hosting Roseburg at Heater-Newman gym at 6:45. Roseburg’s record is 0 and 2 in conference and 4 and 9 overall.

Panthers Claw Cavemen & Cavers-Local Basketball Scores
Jordan Rossetta and Zach DeChenne led the Grants Pass Cavemen by combining for 41 of the teams 47 points Tuesday night in a 14 point loss to the South Medford Panthers. Rossetta dropped in 25 points while DeChenne added 16.

The 61 to 47 loss leaves the Cavemen at 1 and 1 in Conference and 5 and 9 overall. The Cavemen travel to Eugene Friday night to play the Sheldon Irish at 6:45. That game will be broadcast live on KAJO with the pregame airing about 2o minutes prior to tip off.

The Lady Cavers lost to South Medford 59 to 32 in a battle of top five teams. The Cavers will also play at Sheldon this Friday tipping off at 5:30.

In other Southwest Conference action North Medford beat Roseburg 66 to 51.

In Skyline Conference play Hidden Valley beat Klamath Union 43 to 38 to improve to 9 and 5 on the season.

North Valley fell to Cascade Christian 73 to 43. The Knights are now 3 and 12 on the season.

High School Basketball Action
In Local basketball action tonight the Hidden Valley Mustang boys and girls teams travel to face the Phoenix Pirates. In Cave Junction the Illinois Valley Cougars are hosting both the girls and boys teams from Brookings Harbor.

In Friday night boys action the Grants Pass Cavemen open their conference season hosting the South Eugene Axe. Other Southwest Conference matchups include Sheldon visiting South Medford and Roseburg at Willamette.

In 3A competition Rogue River is hosting Sutherlin and South Umpqua is being hosted by North Valley.

Cavemen Lose to Summit, Tuesday Night Basketball Action
A young and shorthanded Caveman basketball team put up a scrappy defense but succumbed to the Summit Storm Tuesday night at Heater-Newman Gym 72 to 58. The Cavemen, with only two healthy Seniors, trailed throughout the contest, down by six at the end of the first quarter, by seven at the half and by ten at the end of three.

Junior Kingston Connelly led Grants Pass with 17 points, Sophomore Jordan Rosetta contributed 15 and Senior Tim Hart had 12 after hitting four long 3-point shots.

Senior Peyton Bruner was averaging 19 points per game when he broke his left hand in the final game in Southern California. He is hoping to return to the lineup by the 2nd half of the conference schedule.

The Cavemen open conference play this Friday night when they host the Axe out of South Eugene. Tip off is slated for 6:45 and the game will be heard on live on KAJO, 99.7 f.m., 1270 a.m. and streamed on kajo.com.

North Valley fell to Sutherlin 51 to 37. The Knights are now 2 and 10 overall. North Valley hosts South Umpqua on Friday night at 6:45pm.

Cavemen Host Summit Tuesday Night at Heater-Newman
The Grants Pass Cavemen return to the friendly confines of Heater-Newman gym Tuesday night to put their 4 and 7 record on the line in a non-conference contest with the 6 and 5 Summit Storm. The tipoff is slated for 6:45 and the game will be broadcast on KAJO with the pregame set to air at 6:15 p.m.

Local Bsketball Action-Thursday Scores & Friday Schedules
Local High School Action last night had Hidden Valley’s Mustangs play Marist Catholic tough but succumbing to the 7th ranked 4A team in the state 58 to 55. The Mustangs face Brookings Harbor tonight at 6:30. In Merlin Klamath Union Pelicans outscored the Knights of North Valley 75 to 68.

The Klamath Union Pelicans girls edged North Valley last night 32 to 31. The Lady Cougars of Illinois Valley handled Glendale 51 to 33.

Tonight the Grants Pass Cavemen travel north to face 15th ranked Jesuit in their last game prior to Christmas. The 2 and 4 Cavemen are ranked 26th. In the 3A Division Rogue River’s Chieftains play at Sutherlin. The Illlinois Valley boys play in the Antler Classic Tournament against Butte Valley, California in Bonanza. Locally New Hope Christian is hosting Southwest Christian.
