Jackson County Fire District 3 Chief Dan Peterson Hired to Head Department in Utah
Jackson County Fire District 3 is looking for a new Fire Chief.
The Unified Fire Authority Board in Salt Lake City, Utah, took action this week to unanimously appoint Dan Peterson as its new fire chief -- effectively ending Peterson's nearly four-decade career of fighting fires in Southern Oregon.
Peterson will officially assume the position of UFA Fire Chief in mid-January.
UFA officials said Peterson was selected as the next leader of the organization due to his outstanding experience as a fire chief, as well as his extensive fire service involvement since 1979. He holds a Masters in Management from Southern Oregon University, a Bachelors in Fire Administration from Western Oregon University and an Associates in Fire Science from Rogue Community College.
Fire District 3 Board Chairman Jim Gillin said they have greatly appreciated Chief Peterson's extraordinary leadership and commitment to the community we live in. He said the Board wishes Dan and his family luck in their next adventure.
The Fire District 3 Board has appointed Stacy Maxwell as the Interim Chief Executive Officer and opened the recruitment process for a new fire chief.
